Daycare & Boarding Dog Handlers
Position: Dog Handler: Dog Day Care, Boarding & Grooming
About the Company: The Hounds & Tap, established in Spring 2021 in Menomonee Falls, WI by Leah Neuroth & Jeffrey Wilgus, is Wisconsin’s first social tavern and dog care facility. We feature dog daycare, overnight boarding, grooming, indoor & outdoor off-leash play areas and a social tavern. The Hounds & Tap was designed as a haven for dogs and a hangout for humans. Services include: dog daycare, boarding & full-service grooming, a dog membership-based tavern & park and a self-serve dog bath.

Description:
Dog & people-loving, positive, energetic, hard-working individual that leads dog play groups and assists manager in day-to-day operations while maintaining a safe & fun atmosphere for our hounds & humans.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- A passion for dogs
- Able to engage and interact with dogs of all sizes and types
- Care for the dogs as if they were your own showing them love and attention
- Interest in dog behavior and a willingness to learn/be trained
- Willingness to learn and use only positive reinforcement and fear free methods when working with and handling dogs
- Commanding presence around dogs
- Maintain control of a large group of open play dogs while monitoring and maintaining a safe environment
- Monitor for dog health and/or behavioral issues and proactively address in a timely manner
- Able to work cohesively with others in a rewarding, fun and fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Calm demeanor and the ability to remain calm in chaotic situations
- Able to problem-solve and be self-sufficient, when needed
- Able to clean including sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, refilling water bowls & mop buckets, doing laundry, cleaning up dog waste and cleaning crates and kennels
- Bathe and blow-dry dogs, if necessary
- Access and maintain computer-based client records, as needed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
- Able to work 12+ hours weekly as well as days, evenings & holidays
- Able to lift, pull or push 50+ pounds
- Able to be on your feet, both in & outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, for the majority of your work shift
Experience:
- Some dog experience (for example: employment at a pet store, dog walker, dog sitter, dog training of personal pets, etc)
- Interest in dog behavior and a willingness to learn
- Dog Daycare, Veterinary or Shelter Experience: Preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word
- Knowledge of and basic troubleshooting abilities for Android and iOS operating systems
- Must be 18+ and authorized to work in the United States
Education: High school or equivalent
Bark Rangers
Position: Bark Ranger: Dog Park & Tavern

Description:
Dog & people-loving, positive, energetic, hard-working individual that maintains a fun and friendly atmosphere for hounds & their humans in our off-leash dog park by keeping the areas clean and safe, assisting hound & human visitors with their needs and building connections with the community.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- A passion for dogs
- Able to engage and interact with dogs of all sizes and types
- Interest in dog behavior and a willingness to learn/be trained in order to monitor interactions between dogs, read dog body language and energy of the play areas and pro-actively intervene/redirect or eject dogs, when necessary
- Willingness to learn and use only positive reinforcement and fear free methods when working with and handling dogs
- Provide excellent customer service to each hound & human including assistance during entry and exit for new dogs, dog waste clean-up, diffusing conflict between pet parents and engaging with our hounds & human guests while on-site
- Able to perform basic cleaning including picking up debris, sweeping, mopping, taking out the trash, refilling water bowls & map buckets, cleaning up dog waste, managing slip risks & other safety hazards, re-setting tables & seating areas as they are vacated by wiping down/replacing chairs, & bathroom maintenance
- Assist with member check-ins, sign-ups and sales transactions, as required
- Assist with special events & private event rentals, as needed
- Able to work cohesively with others in a rewarding, fun and fast-paced environment

Description:

Requirements/Qualifications:
- A passion for dogs
- Provide excellent customer service by taking beverage orders, preparing them efficiently, & building rapport with the hound & human clientele
- Check identification of humans to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Handle card and cash transactions, ensure all funds in the cash drawer are accounted for by the end of the shift
- Serve humans responsibly, obeying all requirements to safely and legally service alcohol in Wisconsin
- Stock bar with beer, wine and other beverages and related supplies
- Able to engage and interact with dogs of all sizes and types
- Interest in dog behavior and a willingness to learn/be trained
- Willingness to learn and use only positive reinforcement and fear free methods when working with and handling dogs
- Welcome new hounds & humans ensuring they understand the tavern & dog park rules and that proper hound check-in procedures are completed

Description:
Dog & people-loving, positive, energetic, organized, hard-working, business-minded individual responsible for the hygienic care and cleaning of dogs. This role is for a person committed to maintaining and executing best-in-class grooming standards, a vital part of the well-being and healthiness of a dog.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Knowledge of grooming for all coat types & breed standards
- Own & supply personal grooming tools (The Hounds & Tap supplies tubs, tables, shampoo, dryers, washer/dryer, towels)
- Schedule grooms in cooperation with daycare manager & business owners
- Willingness to learn and use only positive reinforcement and fear free methods when working with and handling dogs
- Establish hounds & human relationships to build clientele
- Receive hounds upon their arrival
- Communicate with humans regarding desired hound services upon their arrival
- Communicate to human owners any concerns or needs proactively
- Maintain electronic grooming records
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- A passion for dogs, customer service, organization and efficiency
- Strong communication and multi-tasking skills

- Able to stand for majority of workday & able to lift, pull or push 50+ pounds.

- Formal grooming degree or apprentice to an established, experienced groomer
